Police SET (Special Enforcement Team) Tips from previous BTCC meetings
- Check your owner manual for Valet keys and remove them from the car
- Don’t leave your car out of the garage with the door opener inside.
- Check out security devices with motion sensor and record photos or sound. Real time sound andphotos are the best (“Hey, get that TV”). Install the unexpected – video inside the house.
- Check out Harbor Freight for a wireless driveway alert for unexpected driveway visitors
- Have mail and papers stopped or picked up when you are out of town
- Lock your mailboxes
- About the bad guys…
- Violent crime is not high and has not risen in Bridle Trails
- Mail box theft leads to identity theft and burglary
- These are not pranksters but drug-addicted, full time groups that work together. They work 24+ hours without sleep. The drugs make them crave sugar (7-11, Goodwill). If one of them goes to jail, they have friends to take over the area.
- Some are armed going into the houses. Many are armed when they leave.
- They steal cars, park them, and use when convenient to hall stolen goods in a car that is not traceable to them
- About the good guys, Members of the Special Enforcement Team…
- Their passion is getting the bad guys AND getting your stuff back.
- Accomplished by tailing, geo tracking, detective work, but they avoid a chase since the bad guys have no thought about who they may kill or injure in their escape.
- Team of 5 officers on 3-5 years rotations, Captain, Lieutenant, and Detective
