During Covid, BTCC suspended operations and did not collect dues. We are now resuming operations and need your support. Our staff are entirely volunteers but we do need financial support for typesetting, printing, and mailing our newsletter, as well as equipment or other costs for meetings, such as signs and administrative costs.

To simplify our collection efforts, we will begin to collect the $20 dues on an annual basis beginning October of each year.

So please either go to the website bridletrailscommunity.org to join or send a check to:

Remember that BTCC is your neighborhood advocate. Our mission is to preserve, protect and promote our Bridle Trails Community. Your support is essential for presenting a strong, engaged community voice to the City of Bellevue, the County and any other organization which may propose actions affecting the Bridle Trails area. Your dues are our only income that helps support our neighborhood representation to the City of Bellevue.

CITY OF BELLEVUE’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Pamela Gunther and Pamela Johnston

As many of you know, the City of Bellevue has been preparing its Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan) to guide development of the City through 2044 with levels of service you can expect, e.g. cleanliness of parks or proportion of lanes open for cars vs bikes.

Currently, the Planning Commission is considering the “Big Moves” — the general direction for policy change. Next, the City will be integrating the Environmental Impact Statement (Draft and Final EIS) results.

The Final EIS (FEIS) is expected to address the 786 pages of public comments received. We hope it addresses the Bridle Trail Community Club DEIS comments that focused on potential impacts to our area, including:

•                How the comprehensive plan alternatives would ensure protection of fish, wildlife, environmentally sensitive areas, historic resources, and green space.

•                Whether and how the increased office movement to work remotely would affect future City office development.

•                How the comprehensive plan would help to minimize homelessness.

In addition, the Comp Plan must follow State law (Growth Management Act) and align with regional and King County planning policies, such as providing county housing needs for low income families and prioritizing historically underserved populations access to parks and recreation.

Name for Bridle Trails Park on 140th

The Park Board will recommend “Bridle Trails Valley Creek Park” to City Council. This is the name the BTCC recommended to recognize the park’s location within Bridle Trails and the ecosystem in which we live..
